You didn’t ask for this photo.
You didn’t plan it.
You weren’t dreaming of it when you booked the session.
But now?
Now it’s the one that stops you in your tracks. It’s the one you can’t stop thinking about!
It wasn’t perfectly posed.
It wasn’t the one where everyone’s smiling or looking right at the camera.
Honestly… you almost skipped over it when you first saw your gallery.
But something about it made you pause.
Because there– in that messy, unfiltered frame- you saw something real.
You saw them.
And maybe, just maybe, you saw you too.
You’re the one who booked the session.
The one who made sure everyone had outfits, snacks, water bottles and back up clothes (just in case).
You were the one calming nerves and offering bribes and holding all the emotions at once!
You’re the magic behind the moment.
But sometimes…you forget that you’re part of the story too!
You come into the session hoping for “just one good photo!”
One where no one is blinking, or crying or pulling away.
One where the light is soft and your hair isn’t doing that weird thing.
And then something unexpected happens….
Someone bursts out laughing mid-twirl.
A toothless grin takes over their whole face.
You forget to hold your breath and just be for a second.
And click!
The photo happens.
Not because you planned it.
But because you let go!
That photo-the one you didn’t know to ask for- is the one you’ll come back to over and over again.
Because it tells the truth.
The truth about this age.
About their personalities.
Their quirks.
Their energy.
Their love!
The truth about how deeply you’re loving them through every second of every day!
The photo isn’t perfect. But neither is the season, is it?
It’s loud.
And exhausting.
And beautiful.
And fleeting!
And you don’t want to miss any part of it.
You don’t want to look back and wonder what it felt like.
You want to remember.
Not the filtered version- but the one that lived in your bones.
That’s why I shoot the way I do.
Yes, we’ll get the smiling ones. The mantle-worthy, holiday card ones.
But I’m also chasing that moment that catches you! The one that almost stops you in your tracks.
The one that tells the story you don’t even realize you’re writing right now.
So when it all starts to unravel a little during our session, I want you to remember this:
Let it.
Let them be wild!
Let the wind do its thing!
Let the moment unfold!
Because the photo you didn’t think you needed?
It might just be the one that means the most ten years from now.
And when you see it, you’ll remember…
This is what it felt like to love them then!
This is who we were!
This is what mattered!
And I was there to see it, too!
If this spoke to you…
If you’re craving a session where you get to be seen too-
not just the one behind the snacks and the soothing-but the one inside the story…
I’d love to photograph you there. I’d love to show you the moments you didn’t know your heart needed!
I’ll be here, waiting to witness your magic now!
