This amazing girl, I just don’t even have enough words to truly describe how much our family adores her!
Katie is the kind of person who enters your life and you hold on to forever! She is that rare diamond in the rough!
When we first moved here, I was nervous because I wasn’t sure who was going to watch Linc or take care of him if Tuck and I ever wanted to go out. My parents had always watched him along with a few other very select people we knew well and trusted back in our home town of Virginia Beach. Whenever you move to a new place, it’s incredibly hard to find people you trust to watch your baby!
I had heard about Katie from several of our friends and our neighbor. I had even met her over at one of my friend’s houses as she came over to sit for her daughters and I watched as her girls became giddy with excitement when Katie arrived! Katie was just super chill and laid back and right from that start, I knew Linc needed her in his life. What I didn’t know was that instead of just a “cool babysitter” we would be gaining such an amazing friend in return.
Katie has been such a gift in our lives! Katie stole Linc’s heart, she stole our whole family’s heart! Linc can be a lot to handle, but not for Katie. Katie was and still is one of the only to get Linc to sleep (in his own bed no less) when Tuck and I are out. She plays with him in his own little boy rough and tough way engaging him in games that wear him out and fill his cup. On one day she took him for a bike ride, a ride in her jeep (which Linc still talks about), a nature walk, a downtown ice cream date, a pool date in her pool at her house (Linc loved that because he got to see her sisters turtles) a fun run through the sprinkler, played nerf gun war with him, and then made cookies with him after pizza! I mean… my mommy heart bursted when the next morning Linc recounted their entire day with excitement!
Katie is just someone who is a rare kind of person on this earth. She is incredibly kind and genuine. She is just a breath of fresh air and you can feel that when she walks into the room. You just feel this pull when you are around her because she has this calming and grounding presence about her. She knows exactly who she is and where she is going. She is a force and that is something that I can’t say about most adults, let alone a senior!
I had some serious butterflies in my stomach when I met with Katie to capture these senior portraits for her. I wanted to make sure that I captured her spirit just right. That spirit that just radiates her light. I waned to capture her gentle laid back spark she has and also her humor! I wanted to capture all her joy and her fun because she is so much fun! I wanted to capture her light that makes her just magnetic!
